Summer Reading Fun!

Wanted to let you know about some summer reading events coming soon!

First, on June 4 from 3pm – 6pm, you can drop in to sign up for the public library summer reading program at the Main branch of the Lexington County Public Library. There will be lots of fun things going on including a visit from Cocky’s Reading Express, face painting, and crafts! NPE students who participate in the public library summer reading program will be invited to a celebration at the beginning of the school year, so be sure to join!

Second, on June 16 from 5:30pm – 7pm, we hope you can participate in Get Caught Reading! The NPE Reading Patrol will be driving around NPE neighborhoods looking for families spending their summer reading! A permission slip (due June 5) is in the May NPE newsletter. After you turn in your permission slip, download the sign for your door from the NPES Library Media Center webpage. Place the sign on your front door or mailbox to let the Reading Patrol know you are reading!

Not sure what to read this summer? Don’t worry! Mrs. Byrd Fort and Mrs. Platt (NPE Literacy Coach / interventionist) have put together a great list of authors for your enjoyment. Watch for it on the NPE library webpage in the next couple of weeks!

Love,

Mrs. Byrd Fort
